I started in the leisure industry 20 years ago as a fitness instructor. Having encountered many injuries through sport, I then completed courses in massage and sports massage. This finally led me to qualifying as a physical therapist.- I have been working for the past 6 years as the main Physical Therapist with Old Wesley Rugby team 1st team. A challenging position this has given me a broad knowledge of injuries from to back/neck dysfunction to ankles, knees. I also administered pitch side first aid.- In 2009 I worked with Riverdance dancers treating them in between shows.I now also teach first aid OFA 3 day and I day courses as well as refresher to staff members
I also work with a number of companies in Eastpoint advising them on posture aswell as offering First Aid training and onsite therapy. Companies- Quintiles, Globaltelesales, Enterprise Ireland and McCannFitzgerald.
Physical therapists must acquire a broad knowledge of pathologies, whilst undergoing clinical practice to develop various manual techniques. This knowledge can only then be used to treat many different dysfunctions and injuries.
– B Sc. degree in Applied Health Science and Physical Therapy, from The Institute of Physical Therapy and Applied Science.
– Member of the Irish Association of Physical Therapists.
As a Physical Therapist, I integrate a wide variety of advanced soft tissue approaches and modalities to create change in the soft tissues and joints of the body thus restoring balance, optimal alignment and pain-free function.
With this in mind, I can help office staff with common conditions such as a stiff neck and back, sciatica, repetitive strain injury, stress, tension headaches along with others. I do this by preventative measures such as ergonomic assessment, client education and tailor-made exercise programmes.
I work with many companies in Eastpoint Business Campus in Dublin, carrying out postural and ergonomic assessments/solutions and onsite therapy. Companies that I have worked with include Quintiles, Ecocem, Global Telesales and Mc Cann-Fitzgearld among others.
I also work with sporting organisations including senior football and rugby teams around Kildare and Dublin dealing with various injuries and providing pitch side care. In the past, I have worked with Fingal Ravens GAA, Lucan Sarsfields hurlers (Dublin), Caragh GAA (Kildare), Eire Og-Corrachoill hurlers (Kildare), Old Wesley senior rugby team and I have toured with the Riverdance troupe to Belgium and China. My duties included taking care of injuries, overuse maintenance, and rehabilitation.
At present I’m the Physical therapist for the Rathcoffey senior team. I’m also the backup therapist for Templeogue Synge Street GAA and Terenure RFC.
